How to do just about anything with a computer for free

Parental Control

Keeping your children safe on-line

The Internet is a strange place. On the one hand it is a great place to meet friends, get help about anything (literally) and even find things for free.

There is also the darker side. Pornography of every imaginable type is just a click away, it is a perfect place for criminals of all kinds and the illusion of anonymity gives rise to people's most basic urges.

It is almost impossible not to fall over pornography, with even the most innocent sounding sites offering a host of naked flesh! Don't believe me? "www.elephantlist.com" is one of the tamer pornography sites, fortunately with only written links rather than the usual thumbnail pictures. What child wouldn't visit a site about elephants?

As for criminals, given half a chance they would take your computer. The recently closed down Mariposa bonnet was made up of almost 13 million computers from around the world. Fortunately (from a parents point of view) this was a criminal operation and had nothing to do with child exploitation.

And then the illusion of anonymity, nothing could be further from the truth. Click THIS LINK to see just how "anonymous" your surfing actually is.

Keeping your children safe online is not an easy task. Not only do you have the Internet, technology and numerous gadgets to contend with, but you also have your own children fighting against you!

Parental control is a difficult process to setup and maintain. After all, you will be up against the ultimate computer experts - tanagers! We can not guarantee your children won't get round your controls, but you will at least know about it.
