The Curious Case of the Doubling in Price Computer.
When his old computer finally started running slow and making ominous sounding noises, Mr E decided it was time to buy a new computer.
Off he went to a well known High Street retailer and spent just under £850 - £440 on the computer and £406 on programs.
And all of those programs have equivalents which can be downloaded for free on the Internet!
The best policy is to spend your money on hardware (that's the things you can touch) as you will have to live with it for a long time. Software (the thing you can't touch and comes on a disc or via the Internet) is much cheaper and so can be upgraded much more often.
The result for Mr E? A decent computer now but it'll soon be slowing down again, with software that has already been replaced by improved versions.
But he loves his new computer!
